| The purpose of this document is to update Target's advice to our customers who may be planning a visit to our facilities in China within the next few months. Please review this information and plan accordingly.
1/ We suggest that you plan to get your visa in your home country before departure. The process for obtaining a 3rd country tourist visa in Hong Kong has become more complex than before, and 3rd country business visas are no longer issued in Hong Kong. As of this writing tourist visas take 2 working days there is no same day service. Tourist visa applications are not accepted on Saturdays.
2/ We suggest that if you are planning to come to China only once or twice more in 2008, it will be simpler for you to get a tourist visa in your home country and not attempt to get a multi-entry business visa at this time.
3/ For multi-entry business visas, you MUST apply in your home country because Hong Kong currently is not issuing this kind of visa. The process for obtaining a multi-entry business visa has changed: please be sure to check the website for your local Chinese Consulate for required documentation and lead time. There are slight variations in the lead time and documentation required by Consulates in different countries (and sometimes within the same country).
For China business visas, all Chinese Consulates will require that the applicant submit a document from their Chinese host (Target) that is stamped by a relevant Chinese government department (usually called a Notification of Authorized Company For Visa). Target can obtain that document for you. In order for us to do this, we need you to provide the following information:
a/ Clear passport copy (photo page and opposite page).
b/ Clear copy of previous 1-2 China visas, if any.
c/ Clear copy of your business card.
d/ Original copy of your employee certification. This can take the form of a letter issued on your company's letterhead stating that you are an employee of the company and signed by an officer of the company.
Target will take this information and apply for the document for you from the relevant government document here in China. We will begin the process immediately upon receiving your information; please note that it takes 5 working days at this end to get the document. When we get it, we will send it to you by fax or by express mail, per the requirement of your local Chinese Consulate (some require the original and some will accept a fax copy of it.) You can use that document, along with the other documentation required, to apply for your business visa from your home country.
Please note that hotel reservation copies are usually required for you to apply for your business visa. If Target makes the reservation for you, we can supply the reservation copies upon request just ask us.
We encourage you to start your visa process early, read up on the documentation requirements on your local Chinese Consulate's website, and check back to their website frequently for policy changes. And finally, ask us if you have any questions. |
