RoHS is a European Union Directive (2002/95/EC) stating that, "Member States shall ensure that, from 1 July 2006, new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market does not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)." RoHS affects a wide variety of industries, including household appliances, information technology equipment, consumer products, lighting, telecommunications, electrical tools, leisure products, some medical products, and automatic dispenser equipment (such as ATMs and vending machines.) Industries that are not affected include large-scale industrial testing, monitoring, and control equipment.

Target is fully committed to providing RoHS-compliant products to clients who require it. Below are general statements on some of the major component and product types Target manufactures.   We encourage all clients to advise us as soon as possible if any of their products manufactured by Target need to comply with the RoHS directive.   If you need a RoHS Certificate of Compliance for any product manufactured by us, please contact your Target Customer Service or Sales Representative.

Aluminum cast parts.  Target has achieved RoHS compliance on all cast aluminum parts made with aluminum alloys 380, 360, and 356, whether supplied unfinished or powder coated.  Our pre-treatment for powder coating is a RoHS-compliant passivation process, and we are able to achieve over 1000 hours' successful ASTM B117/D1654 salt spray test results with this process.   For specialty powder coatings and other custom finishes, we will review on a case-by-case basis and advise if the required coating is RoHS-compliant. Sheet metal, extruded aluminum, and machined parts.  Target can achieve RoHS compliance on all unfinished sheet metal, extruded aluminum, and machined parts, depending upon alloy.  For specific information on alloys and finishes, please contact Target Sales or Customer Service.

Plastics.  Target can achieve RoHS compliance on all natural material (without blending, additives, or modifiers) plastic parts, depending upon material grade.   For specific information on material grades and finishes, please contact Target Sales or Customer Service.

Glass.  Target can achieve RoHS compliance on all finished soda lime and borosilicate glass parts, depending upon material grade.  For specific information on material grades and finishes, please contact Target Sales or Customer Service.

Lighting Fixtures.   Please contact Target Sales or Customer Service for specific information if any of your lighting fixture products require RoHS compliance.

Please note that Target sells products exclusively as an OEM.   As mentioned above, all cast aluminum parts are RoHS compliant.  For all other components and assemblies, Target is providing RoHS compliance on a product-by-product basis driven by customer request.
